Nokia E73 Mode Symbian Phone Review
Jul 26th
The E73 and the E72-mode Kissin ‘Cousins. They share a lot of similar characteristics: both are world phones (they work here and overseas), only measure about the same (size and weight are 4.48 by 2.30 by 0.40 inches and 4.5 ounces) have complete QWERTY keypad, 2.4-inch color screens and 5-megapixel cameras (with or without video). Both phones have a full HTML browser, Adobe Flash (Lite) support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, turn-by-turn GPS directions (free for the life of your phone thanks to Ovi Maps), a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync client for Company E (this is in addition to POP3 and IMAP e-mail), IBM Lotus Traveler (in addition to the Nokia Messaging), Bloomberg News and much more.
The E73 also reserves the earlier model, the ability to switch modes on the phone, from business to personal settings. That is, you have two screens at home – one with important apps access to your corporate email and contacts, and the others all your personal belongings (including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and MySpace.
You are only one click away from access to Ovi-branded app Nokia’s store. One of the nice new features of the wedding of the E73 and T-Mobile is the ability for everything you buy pay from the App Store on your monthly phone bill or credit card. It’s a nice gesture, not available in several competitive App Store. The E73 comes with apps and games such as Shazam and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare loaded.

The handset also adds a number of important functions. The most important of all is that this phone is sold and marketed through T-Mobile. The E72 is unlocked only sold as a phone (and you had to your own contract with a GSM carrier (T-Mobile or AT & T in this country to negotiate) to using it.
And that means that the second most important characteristic of the E73 compatibility with 3G data on T-Mobile network. The E72 was nice, but sometimes a bit slow on the data recording. The E73 is a 3G phone now full world (quad-band GSM, EGSM EDGE, WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA) and that makes a big difference to the general speed and feel of the device. T-Mobile boasts that this is the thinnest phone, it is sold. He believes that an important feature.
This phone runs on Symbian operating system from Nokia, Version 9.3 – also known as the famous S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2nd It’s Nokia’s tried and true OS (newer operating systems are in the works) and has tweaked a bit, so that they catch-up (a little) with modern operating systems such as iOS 4.0, Android and webOS. A significant change which is evident immediately Wi-Fi now remains when you turn it on. It used to be controlled by each app individually, will be turned off when using an app stopped. I am pretty sure that means the E73 can use more electricity than earlier models, but it also makes for a smooth user experience.
On the other hand Nokia makes as much as 12.5 hours battery life when using GSM networks and almost 6 hours for 3G connectivity. Nokia claims standby time is 16 to 22 days (GSM WCDMA). I did not test the phone long enough to determine whether these figures are correct. To be sure, my usual warning skeptical: “Your performance may vary” applies here. But even if you add in the usual mobile phone manufacturer’s Fudge Factor wishful calculating these amazing figures.

Overall, the E73 mode, a great smartphone. It is small and light, and now with lightning speed data download speeds make the E73 a very viable option. No, it does not sport a distinctive icon-loading, graphical user interface, but what it does the job and does it with finesse.
It handles my IMAP e-mail with composure, but I wish Nokia would make it easier to get my e-mail system synchronizes contacts and calendar. It’s a bit annoying when you really a Google-phone need best addressed all the specific mail from Google mail address calendar functions, a phone to Microsoft best with all Microsoft features and an iPhone deal with Apple stuff.

Of course, Mail for Exchange will do the job, but I prefer to find solutions, such as in Android, IOS and webOS. Turn off the phone, enter your Gmail username and password, and you’re ready. E-mail, contacts and calendar sync all and you are ready to go.
Starting on 16 June, T-Mobile, the Nokia E73 Fashion for $ 69.99 with a two-year service contract. Do not forget, that includes lifetime access to voice-guided GPS navigation system, thanks to Nokia’s Ovi Maps. That alone is worth the price, but you get a great little phone in the business to be good.
