New Sony S-Series Walkman leaked
Jul 23rd

Sony also has the S series Sony Walkman. That is no surprise, with its super-thin form, music and video capabilities, long battery, FM tuner, etc. Well, the folks at Sony insiders caught wind of this picture of one of their sources and the theory is that it is the successor to the S-series.
It looks good in red, blue, pink and black. Interestingly, there seems to be speakers on the front. Awesome for those who like to use their music players without headphones. The design is very eye-catching and it looks bigger.
That’s about all we know at the moment, but we are keeping an eye on this one.
Will the Sony PSP phone come?
Jun 28th

In order to remain competitive with Apple, Sony is considering adding mobile functionality to its portable game console, the PSP. The telephone and hybrid game may not be called PSP, but the device will probably have many of the similar features of the Sony PSP, including the use of floppy disks to play movies and games.
According to sources, a development team is expected that the work in July, the combination of the features of PSP and Sony Ericsson phones. Many top-name manufacturers game have begun to offer gaming options at Apple, including Capcom. If Sony wants to remain relevant, they must consider how the change in their current product line to appeal to more consumers.
Sony has not officially on the reports and similar rumors floated about two years ago, when Sony filed a patent for a PSP phone hybrid. At the time, British Telecom had stated that it was cooperating with the company to phone functionality to the PSP.
Sony Walkman X-series Phone

Many people say that the Palm Pre will be an iPhone killer. I’m not sure, but it is a competitor and sway some votes. What I know is that when it comes to portable media, Apple is still top is. For reasons why you in the new Walkman X.
I take a lot of cheap shots at Sony still on for the Walkman brand here in the States, I have I should be Sony’s where it deserves. It looks like the new Walkman X through here in the U.S. was estimated with the price and availability it hot. The 16 GB version and the 32 GB version, both come in mid-June. So what this player apart?
First, the OLED screen. The screen is brilliant and is an exciting insight into what is used on many devices. It is a 3-inch display with a resolution of 480×272. Engadget had this to say about it: “The first time we discovered the Home screen, we can not help but be aback colors were dramatic, crisp and almost lovingly”
The device even has a touchscreen for navigation with audio controls at the top, nice touch. The UI looks simple and easy to navigate.
The biggest problem for these devices, is this: Apple users split “Music” and “Music and hey-what’s-that ‘warehouse. Walkman X sees itself as a great PMP with a truly innovative display and decent software. They even have Apps for YouTube and Slacker, and a Web browser. Hot right?
Almost. The allure of the iPod touch (which just so happens to be the same prices) is not just a music player. It’s the fun games Apple advertises our throats, and this is a convincing argument for the consumer to think about what they were missing with a product that does not extend to the 35,000 + Apps in the App Store.
Sony certainly does not want to follow Apple’s too far and cannibalize their own game player, a problem Apple does not have. Games are a big part of my note and not something I would immediately trade for a pretty screen.
So to do, how to beat the iPod? Build a player that is open, so that those who know (or care) about lossless files can do what they want? If the building is integrated, that a player with a music shop, video store? What about games? Web Access is enough? What happens when Sony in a 3G chip, so you have an Internet everywhere, not only Wi-Fi umbrellas?
I’m not sure the answer, but I am pretty sure that Sony has not yet been determined, either with the Walkman fairly X-series.
