Samsung Convoy U640 Review
Sep 9th
Hot on the heels of the robust Motorola Barrage is just as durable phone for Verizon Wireless Samsung called Convoy. Similar in form and function to AT&T’s Samsung Rugby, the convoy will be built to withstand the elements and offer 3G, a 2-megapixel camera, GPS, and a music player. We see it as an easy-to-use phone with admirable sound quality. It costs $0.01 with new service plan.
Design
You will know immediately that the convoy is meant to be a robust phone. It is a hard plastic skin, rubber siding, and a battery compartment, which is firmly in place. It is not completely waterproof, but it’s the usual military specifications for humidity, dust, shock, temperature and salt fog certified. In fact, the convoy of a sound, feel comfortable in the hand and the hinge is stable.
The letters mark the external display supports 65,000 colors (128×128 pixel). You can adjust the contrast only, but the screen shows the date, time, signal strength, and photo caller ID. It also works as a viewfinder for the camera and you can use it to a variety of functions such as calendar, Bluetooth, music player access, and voice commands. Below the display are three dedicated music controls, while among them is a great speaker. The camera lens sits above the display, and there is no flash.
The internal display measures 2.2 inches and supports 262,000 colors (220×176 pixels). It is not exactly eye-catching, but it is bright and vivid with sharp colors and graphics. Outside your usual symptoms Verizon, the menu interface is easy to use. We want to choose, you can choose from three menus and styles that you replace the position of the icons and set the standard menu with your favorite apps. Other editing options include the backlight, time format, font size, font size and choose the menu and style.

The navigation system has a large array toggle with a central OK button, two soft keys, a camera shutter, a voice-dial control, a clear button and the Talk and End/Power keys. The buttons are flush but their spacious design makes them easy to use. Furthermore, the switch to provide shortcuts to four user-defined functions. The keypad buttons are equally spacious. Although they are flat, then we could dial and text quickly and without making mistakes. The numbers on the keys are great as well and they have a bright backlighting.
On the right side of the spine you’ll find a microSD card slot, a speakerphone control, and a 2.5 mm headset jack. It is disappointing that we do not get a 3.5 mm jack on a music phone. On the left spine are a programmable shortcut button, a volume rocker and the charger port for proprietary Samsung. Samsung is making good progress towards the micro-USB charger standard, but it did not happen here. Also, because the rubber flap for the ports and memory card slots completely safe, eighth, we recommend that the convoy is not a complete immersion.
Features
The convoy has a 1,000-contact phone book with room in each entry for five numbers, two e-mail addresses, an address and notes. You can organize callers into groups and with a couple and a photo of 20 polyphonic ringtones. Other essentials include text and multimedia messaging, a calculator, a calendar, a speakerphone, an alarm clock, stopwatch, world clock and a notepad.
For more demanding users provides the speaker-independent voice commands and Convoy dialing, USB mass storage, PC syncing, stereo Bluetooth, instant messaging and chat, as well as support for POP3 e-mail. Thanks to the integrated GPS, you can also connect with Verizon VZ Navigator. Accessing the whole, that’s pretty strong feature set, and you can Verizon’s Push-to-talk network for an additional $ 5 per month.

The 2-megapixel camera takes pictures in five resolutions from 1,600 x1, 200 to 160×120. Other editing features include a self timer, three quality settings, five color effects, four white balance choices, a 10x digital zoom, an adjustable ISO, spot metering and a brightness meter. You also get various shooting modes – divided multishot, autoshot and panoramic views – and a choice of shutter sounds. The camcorder has a smaller number of processing options. Videos for a multimedia message to be limited 60 seconds, but it may take longer to shoot in standard mode.
Photo quality was very good for a 2-megapixel shooter. Colors were bright and there was little or no noise. Some of our shots had a slight pink tone, but that was our only complaint. Remember that without a flash, you need to get enough light for a decent picture. Videos were okay, but nothing great. You can transfer images from the phone in a message, via Bluetooth or a cable connection to the computer. Verizon also gives you an online album. The convoy has built a respectable 90 MB shared memory and microSD card can hold up to 16GB.
As an EV-DO phone supports Convoy the full range of 3G services from Verizon, including V Cast streaming video content, and the V CAST Music with Rhapsody. Both the V Cast menu and music store interface are pretty much unchanged from other Verizon phones. Player options include the usual limited shuffle and repeat modes, but V CAST Music will also recommend other songs based on your playlist. The convoy includes an airplane mode for listening to tunes, while the height.
You can personalize Convoy with a banner, wallpapers, themes, and display. The convoy to come with no additional games or applications, but you can set options form Verizon using the WAP 2.0 browser download.

Performance
We tested the dual-band (CDMA 800/1900; EV-DO Rev. A) Samsung Convoy in San Francisco with Verizon service. Call Quality was very respectable on the whole. The signal was clear and strong, voices sounded natural and the band was loud enough. We encountered no interference from other electronic devices. We used the phone in a variety of places and could clearly hear in each. Honesty, we have no gripes. The convoy is compatible with M4 and T4 hearing aids.
On their end, callers said we sounded very well. We heard no complaints, even if we were calling from a noisy place. Some could not say we were using a cell phone. Speakerphone quality was also admirable. The external speaker is quite loud and the audio was clear on both sides. We were also pleased with Bluetooth headset calls and the quality of the Voice Command feature.

The 3G connection was shaky when downloading songs from V Cast Music Store. It took almost 2 minutes to a 3.73MB song, which is quite long to download. But once the music was on the phone, we were impressed with the quality, both through the external speakers and headphones.
The convoy has a rated battery life of 5 hours of talk time and 22.37 days standby time. Our tested talk time is much longer in 7 hours and 32 minutes. According to FCC radiation tests, the convoy has a digital SAR of 0.912 watts per kilogram.
Samsung Mythic a897 Review
Sep 8th
If the Samsung Mythic came for AT&T in November 2008 it wold be sold off like hot cakes. TouchWiz UI Samsung was bright and fun, was responding on the phone and its data plan will cost half the iPhone’s. After all, the cost of a phone is not only the up-front purchase price, but the current plan price on a two-year contract. It was one of the first touchscreen phones to mobile TV, have the $10/per month digital TV subscriptions, which is broadcast over the air and not via the phone’s data connection. If you are lucky enough to have live in a service area FLO TV, you could see better video quality than YouTube or AT&T’s streaming video could provide the time.
Since then we have the lower end Samsung Solstice, which could not dethrone the eternity and now the Samsung Mythic, we would say is to had the contract for the replacement of the iconic Eternity. As eternity is Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, it is still intuitive, but after more than a year has us a little old. However, it is one of the better grade interfaces on a feature phone and there is little to no learning curve when switching from an older model.

BUY SAMSUNG MYTHIC A897 WITH NEW AT&T SERVICE PLAN AND SAVE MONEY!
The resolution is 360 x 640 pixels and measures 3.3″ increases, a significant improvement compared to the eternity and the solstice. It’s not a super-vivid AMOLED display like the Samsung Impression TouchWiz phone with QWERTY keyboard, however. It is also capacitively as the iPhone 3G. This means that it is not as sensitive or react, but under resistive screens, it is very good. And even better, it works with your finger nails and gloves.
New phones always more expensive, so the Mythic costs more than the earlier impression that Mythic probably suggests, if you do not want Mobile TV, and it is the same as the 16 gig iPhone 3G costs. We expect that the price will fall, and as always 3rd party dealers is the phone for less, making it mandatory to offer. Our only niggle with the Mythic is that it is not as lively as ever, something difficult to forgive in a feature phone.

BUY SAMSUNG MYTHIC A897 WITH NEW AT&T SERVICE PLAN AND SAVE MONEY!
The Mythic has a very good call quality over AT&T’s 3G network and the earpiece is louder than the average. The rear-facing mono speaker is loud and clear. The Mythic is a quad-band GSM mobile phone world and it’s a 3G world phone with HSDPA on AT&T’s bands and 2100 MHz for Europe and Asia. The phone has speed dial and Nuance voice command.
Other features include a GPS with AT&T Navigator, a music player (such as the Eternity), support for AT&T’s streaming video that plan with their data, a video player, the most popular formats such as WMV and MPEG4, a WAP browser, and handle can be added works a full-featured HTML browser used by the Samsung on WebKit (the same browser engine in the iPhone and Palm Pre) develops’ s. While the browser can not on the iPhone is in terms of rendering speed and finger control to compare, it is pretty good by phone standards, and the function can handle full desktop sites.

BUY SAMSUNG MYTHIC A897 WITH NEW AT&T SERVICE PLAN AND SAVE MONEY!
The Samsung Mythic is a nice feature touch-screen phone, and given their lack of competition on AT&T, it is among the best. If you want a touch screen phone, but not want the more expensive smart phone or iPhone data plan that Mythic is a full-choice, if we can do for his impression Samsung AMOLED display and QWERTY keyboard choose. But if you do not want the keyboard and added much of the impression or if you want, mobile TV, the Mythic it is. We just wish it was a little peppi.
HP iPAQ Glisten Review

Verizon Casio G’zOne Brigade Review
Sep 6th
Casio has made a name in ruggedized mobile phone market with the G’zOne series of phones. By ticking the Type-V to the newer G’zOne Rock, these phones are military-certified to take a beating and keep on. Now, finally released his very first Casio ruggedized phone messaging – probably the first of its kind – the Casio G’zOne synchronized brigade. With its tough exterior, full QWERTY keyboard and multimedia features, the brigade is built for industrial workers, but is anyone a durable and reliable mobile messaging will, please. The Casio G’zOne Brigade is $ 249.99 after $ 50 mail-in rebate and a new two-year service agreement.
Design
The Casio G’zOne Brigade is following in the footsteps of his predecessor with a thick style that looks like it came from the 90s. At 4.4 inches long and 2.2 inches wide by 0.9 cm thick, is, frankly, very large. The brigade rich weighs 6 ounces, so this is definitely a phone you do not want in your shirt pocket. It is rectangular with sharp corners and is enclosed in a hard plastic shell with a soft-touch coating. It is a unique crocodile-style texture on the back for extra grip. The connections are covered with a rubber stopper, and the battery compartment has a locking mechanism to prevent water damage. In fact, the brigade is MIL-STD-810F certified to withstand water, shock, dust, immersion, vibration, salt fog, humidity, solar radiation, altitude and extreme temperatures.
On the front of the brigade a round external display is reminiscent of a stopwatch. The 1.2-inch monochrome 128×96 pixel AM-OLED display is similar to previous G’zOne phones and shows the typical date, time, caller ID, battery and signal strength. Even if it is a monochrome display, you can still use it as a viewfinder, but it is black and white and quite choppy. You can use a limited selection of articles from the external display, messaging, contacts, call list access, Bluetooth, key lock and the media. You can change the background lighting of the Clock time and appearance.
Below that, the external controls for navigation. They consist of a circular toggle with a center in the center SELECT button and shortcut keys to a new text message, a favorite contacts list, the camera/camcorder, and the flashlight/speaker. Underneath is the send, clear/voice command End/Power buttons, and the number is keyboard. The keys are well spaced apart and are raised above the surface at a relatively steep angle, so it’s easy to feel, to choose from. On the left spine are the charging connector, the headset jack, Push to talk key, the volume rocker and the music player shortcut key. On the back is the camera lens plus an LED flash, which also features a flashlight can. Behind the battery cover is the microSD card slot.

Turn you open the phone 90 degrees to the right, and you get a full QWERTY keyboard and a 2.9-inch 400×240-pixel TFT display is visible. It only supports up to 65,000 colors, but images still look vivid and sharp. You can adjust the backlight time, the clock format, the size of fonts, both the dial and the menu fonts and the layout of the main menu. You can also order the new icons around, if you wish.
Below this are two soft-key keyboard plus the above. It has four rows of keys, complete with a series in a row, so it is quite spacious. Along the right side of the keyboard are a couple of navigation controls such as a small circle with a center toggle SELECT button, a clear/voice command button and the Send and End/Power keys. You can also find keyboard shortcuts for a new text message, camera, camcorder, and the speakers on the keyboard. The keys feel on the surface with a beautiful arched raised, and are always pleased when the spacebar is facilitated in the middle of the keyboard for input. It is a small thing, but we also that there a dedicated period key.
Features
The brigade has a 500-entry phone book with room in each entry for four numbers, two e-mail addresses, an instant messaging screen name and an address. You can organize them into groups, they associate with a photo for caller ID, or a polyphonic ringtones 20. Other basics include a vibrate mode, a speakerphone, text and multimedia messaging, an alarm clock, a calendar, a calculator, a stopwatch, countdown timer, world clock and a notepad. The brigade is also compatible with Verizon’s Push-to-talk network.
More advanced features include voice commands, instant messaging (Windows Live, Yahoo, and AOL), a wireless Web browser and e-mail. You can either mobile e-mail that an actual e-mail application that you send and receive POP and IMAP mail, Web or mobile e-mail that is simple, you can lead to a mobile web page with access to popular Web mail services like Hotmail or Yahoo Mail. There are also corporate e-mail support, which is especially useful if your employer uses OWA (Outlook Web Access). You also get stereo Bluetooth, USB mass storage, PC Sync, Visual Voice mail support and GPS with support for VZ Navigator turn-by-turn directions and Verizon’s Family Locator service. The brigade also Field Force Manager, a resource management tool is designed to employers to keep in touch with their field staff. In addition, there is a document viewer, which you read most Microsoft Office documents would.

BUY CASIO G’ZONE BRIGADE WITH NEW VERIZON SERVICE PLAN AND SAVE MONEY!
But the brigade is not all work and no play, it also comes with a full suite of Verizon’s multimedia and broadband services. It has EV-DO Rev. A, so that you get access to Verizon’s V Cast video and V CAST Music with Rhapsody. The latter you can download songs over the air for $ 1.99 each way, which includes a simultaneous download to the PC. According to the brigade comes with a music player as well. The interface is not as polished as we would like because it is so with the V Cast Music Interface is connected. Features the music player is the ability to songs on repeat and shuffle set, plus you can create playlists and edit on the fly. You can create your own songs on the brigade load via a microSD card (up to 16GB), the player supports MP3, WMA and unprotected AAC and AAC + formats.
The brigade has a very advanced 3.2-megapixel camera. It can take pictures in five resolutions (2048×1536 pixels, 2048×1232 pixels; 1600×1200 pixels, 1280×960 pixels, and 640×480 pixels), and you can also choose from six Best Shot modes (Person, Scenery choose, Night View, Sepia, Black and white, and negative) to get the right shot. Other settings include a macro mode, a flash, white balance settings, a self-timer, multishot mode, auto focus, brightness and noise of the shutter button. You can also toggle the display timeout. We would like you can easily access many of these camera settings by simply a few keystrokes on the keyboard.
Photo quality was pretty good, but if we are not using Flash, the images would appear a bit overcast with a slight tinge to the orange. Flash does a good job at clearing most of the photos, though, so that is good enough for us. The built-in video camera can record videos in 320×240 pixel resolution, either in 60 seconds for MMS or up to 60 minutes if there is available storage. The settings are similar to the camera.
Like other phones, you can customize the Brigade with a variety of wallpapers, themes and ringtones. You can read more about the Verizon Wireless Web browser. The brigade come with any games, but you can buy them through the browser as well.

Sony Ericsson W518a Review
Sep 3rd
The Sony Ericsson W518a Walkman phone is longing for fans, the shape of a flip. Even if AT & T has stayed largely from high-end Walkman phones like the W995a they continue the love for mid-tier Walkman phones. The W518a has control Sony Ericsson’s signature XrossMediaBar (pronounced Cross Media Bar) Media Player UI, Walkman player 3.0, Bluetooth A2DP, an FM radio and gestures. The quad-band GSM phone has AT & T’s 3G HSDPA bands and works with AT & T’s services, including CV on-demand video, Video Share video calling, AT & T Navigator for GPS navigation and music downloads over the air. The flip phone is very slim and has a 3.2 megapixel camera with video capture function, Facebook integration and the very capable Netfront web browser. We love the music and video playback offers performance, although we can not dig the camera quality.
Design and Ergonomics
The Sony Ericsson W518a is a good-looking flip phone, so it looks better in person than in photos. It has a shiny dark gray cover and a smooth black back. The front cover is brilliantly low key and not one fingerprint-loving piano finish. Measuring 3.7 x 1.9 x 0.6 inches with the flip closed is the Walkman phone is very thin. The phone has a small display, touch-sensitive control music playback and built-in camera on the door and the rear speakers burn on the back. The 2.2-inch QVGA display supports 262k colors, the most important, and it is very useful in the sunlight. The Sony Ericsson has a Moto RAZR-like flat keyboard which is very challenging for mobile gamers, as the number keys is to travel less. Menu includes two shoulder buttons menu keys, call send and end call buttons, menus and buttons, cancel flank the D-Pad. The menu buttons are so flat as the number keys and the D-Pad center button is a respectable size by one very narrow ring, which surrounded a 4-way d-pad works.
The SIM card and Memory Stick Micro (M2) card slots are living below the battery cover. You must remove the battery to access the SIM card slot, but the M2 slot is accessible without removing the battery. The W518a has a volume rocker and keylock slider on the right side and the Sony Ericsson proprietary charging/syncing port (Fast Port-style) on the left side.
Phone and messaging features
The Sony Ericsson W518a is a quad-band GSM phone with 3G HSDPA World 3.6 Mbps on the 850/1900/2100 MHz bands. The 3G bands make the phone work on AT & T’s 3G network in the U.S. and in Europe. The 3G bands will not have to work on 3G network of T-Mobile in the U.S. The phone’s reception is only average. It loses, occasionally, in areas with decent 3G coverage 3G. The phone never let fall a call and has very good voice quality on both incoming and outgoing ends. Data speed via HSDPA 3G feels fast, and the load time for Web pages and video clips CV is very reasonable. If you’re’s 3G coverage area in AT & T, Sony Ericsson, you can also make video calls via AT & T’s Video Share service.

The contacts database on the Sony Ericsson up to 1000 contacts with up to 7,000 numbers. You can also have nine speed dial numbers. The phone also comes with Voice Command software, but also with the Sony Ericsson C905a Cyber-shot to AT & T, it requires you to record voice tags. Again, as the C905a, we experienced an error if the volume is for the beep that signals that the phone is ready to listen for a command, so low that we could not hear, unless the listener against our ear was in a very quiet room. But when we recorded the voice tags, the phone worked well in voice dialing.
The Sony Ericsson W518a has the usual messaging support, including SMS, video, image and sound messaging and Web-based IM (AIM, Windows Live and Yahoo Messenger). The W518a Walkman phone comes with the NetFront web browser that a full HTML pages with images and layout can display intact. The browser is really impressive, with desktop display options, a cursor, Javascript dHTML support and more.
It was interesting that AT & T added a Walkman phone, as one of its mobile social networking, but Facebook fans will get an integrated application on the W518a. Even if you can just use the nice Web browser to visit and update your Facebook page, is the integration of something extra: if you will scroll back to “update in standby”, your friend updates over the phone standby screen. There is also a Facebook client on the phone, but strangely, only shows you can update your own Facebook page but not your friend updates.
The Sony Ericsson W518a has aGPS, with the AT & T Navigator works for turn-by-turn navigation and voice guidance. The GPS receives accurate corrections in most cases, but significantly behind the real-time position. Route recalculations are fast and the speakerphone is loud enough to overcome to road noise for spoken instructions. Standard features include AT & T Navigator POI (Points of Interest), transport and re-routing. AT & T Navigator is not free, but you have 30 days to try it for free.

Multimedia
True to its name, is the W518a is a very strong music phone and once you have all the right accessories in hand, the Walkman phone offers a complete music on the go. The Sony Ericsson has known both the XrossMediaBar (XMB) user interface (on the PS3, PSP, Sony TVs and some notebooks) and the latest Walkman Player 3.0 software item. The music player supports the accelerometer, album art and Mega Bass. When you control a fan of gestures, you will be pleased with the W518a: You can use the phone to fast forward and rewind to change tracks, volume, and to shake even snooze alarm by waving your hand in front of the camera lens. The gesture is to control and you can respond on or off. The music player can play MP3, WMA and AAC files. We tested songs from iTunes and everything worked well. We also tested audio books and podcasts on your Sony Ericsson and they worked well. You can find quite a few applications of the music player provided some of Sony Ericsson, others include AT & T. This application/service include TrackID (to identify tracks on the phone), MusicID (to identify music from radio), XM Radio and SensMe types on the mood of the music is based. It’s also an FM radio with RDS on board, but AT & T does not include a wired headset, and you will need one, since it acts as an antenna. If you want to listen to FM radio, you have to buy the headset separately, and since it is the Sony Ericsson Fast Port connector style headset it is not the easiest or cheapest to find. A curious omission of a Walkman phone. Fortunately, if you operate a stereo headset from an older Sony Ericsson phone that will.
You can play music through the phone’s built in speaker, a wired stereo headset (none resumed in the package) or via Bluetooth A2DP stereo headset. The speakerphone on the W518a is decent. The audio quality can not compete with the stereo speakers on the W995a, but it’s not so bad, unless you turn the volume too high. The speaker sounds blown a little when the volume is high, although the speakerphone is quite loud, and you do not really need to get it to max. Sounded really good music via Bluetooth stereo headset with strong bass and clear sound.
How many phones from Sony Ericsson W518a has an M2 card slot for music storage and the storage of other media content. You can also sync music via USB or Bluetooth. Sony Ericsson PC Suite software to sync free, but not the W518a package included a USB cable. You can purchase the USB data cable from the AT & T separately, and it is the same cable with most Sony Ericsson phones (Fast Port USB used).
While the Sony Ericsson W518a is not a video-centric phone, it offers a surprisingly good video experience. The phone accepts AT & T’s CV on-demand streaming video with ease. Both short clips and full length TV programs and games smoothly on Look Sharp 3G. If you are in the free video content, you can play the YouTube video phone on the mobile site YouTube. YouTube videos play less smoothly than the CV video and audio not sound so full.

The Sony Ericsson W518a has a 3.2 megapixel camera with fixed focus lens and flash. The camera lens lives under a cheap plastic cover that easily schmeared hand the fat, and he begins Sun Glare Lens Flare causes. Still pictures are taken with the W518a is not impressive indoor and outdoor scenes have noticeable noise, which you should not be seen in a 3.2-megapixel camera phone, light objects often have white-out in different lighting conditions, and there are a faint white haze near the edges of the photo. But if you just need to cover the right lighting and the lens is clean, sharp pictures could capture a few with good color balance. The camera software on the Sony Ericsson offers the usual settings like white balance, effects, self timer, image quality, night mode and much more.
The W518a can also record video with sound in QVGA resolution of 320 x 240 at 15fps. You can record short videos MMS or save long videos on the M2 card or on the phone. Video clips look smooth and sound is in sync with video. appear without flash, videos caught in a dark room dark. Battery Life
The Sony Ericsson W518a has a rechargeable Li-Ion battery, which the user is replaceable. The battery (model BST-39) 900 mAh, and the claimed talk time is 4 hours. The claimed standby is about 16 days and in our tests, which seemed to be on target. The battery life was considerably shorter, as we saw CV, the GPS and downloaded apps used over the air.
Verdict
We finally get a flip Walkman phone from AT & T and it does not disappoint as a music phone. The Walkman player 3.0 is the latest music playback quality: album art, accelerometer support, added TrackID, gesture control and the SensMe playlist. It plays audio books and podcasts and video playback via CV is very smooth. The phone has a speaker and the sound of music via Bluetooth A2DP stereo well. It is a shame that AT & T not included wired headset that works with the Sony Ericsson proprietary interface is not just for music playback, but also for the FM radio. GPS with AT & T Navigator and Facebook integration for users who need them comfortable. The NetFront browser provides more smarts to a feature phone at that level. The camera is a disappointment, good for us that AT & T Sony Ericsson C905a Camera Phone with 8.1-release-megapixel camera at the same time for those who are more than music photo buffs Buffs.
Motorola Droid II Review
Sep 2nd
When the second generation product was presented, you expect significant improvements from the first model. Motorolatakes a different approach with the Droid 2, the follow-up to last year’s groundbreaking Droid, both of Verizon. Rather than a fanboy dream update, barely two Droid is a small shift. Given the fascination of the same name is cheap, but more feature-rich Droid X (although the reported problems with the implementation of the Android 2.2), it is even more surprising, the Droid 2 no longer a radical departure from the first droid. Not that there is a bad phone – Motorola has the possibility, the slide-out keyboard Droid missed to the next level.
Features and Design
Physically, the Droid 2 is almost identical to the original, a chrome frame is at the top of the phone, the easiest way to distinguish the two.
Operational Motorola has rearranged the four Android navigation buttons below the display (Back, Menu, Home, Search has become Menu, Home, Back, Search – oh, goody), the slide-out keyboard (not spring-loaded smooth as, say on the Samsung 4G Epic Sprint) now has some directional buttons instead of toggle a square that is expressed on each edge, and there are some insignificant differences in the nature of Android 2.2 is implemented (the original droid can now be updated) – various icons in the first place. Big Deal.
Performance-wise, not Droid step 2 up to a 1-GHz processor 550MHz chip in the original, so that the droid has two little faster. Even today, standard DLNA connectivity, a widescreen still photo set and an included Blockbuster App. You even get the same amount of RAM – 16GB, but arranged a little differently: the Droid has built two 8GB and one pre-installed 8GB microSD card, while the original had 256 MB of built but a 16GB card included. Otherwise, you are still the same dark horizontal slider with a three-row QWERTY keyboard (no dedicated numeric row), a 3.7-inch widescreen 854 x 480 LCD, 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and 4x digital zoom, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1.

A bit more frightening is how much you get to the Droid X at the same price as the Droid 2: a 4.3-inch screen, an 8-megapixel camera, 24GB memory contain a total of (built-in 8 GB and a pre-installed 16GB card) and HD video recording. The Droid is second only advantages are its slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a longer talk time.
In addition to a faster processor, the Droid 2, three other major upgrades covered by the Droid: 3G Mobile Hotspot capabilities for connecting up to five devices, more memory and built-third longer rated talk time (6.4 hours vs. 9.6 hours ) despite the same size battery.
Multimedia
The Droid 2 has the same sharp, colorful display as the original, and includes a blockbuster app, but none of Verizon’s video offerings or MobiTV. Its widescreen is perfect for viewing the page loaded films proportioned, but if you are interested in the Droid as a PMP, you should be looking at the Droid X with its 4.3-inch screen.
Either Motorola or the new Android 2.2 OS has not recall the original edition of the droid, what music you from here when going to and from other multimedia-app solved the left lane.

Sound Quality
Calls are loud and clear from Droid 2, but listeners at the other end reported a bit of muddiness come by. Sound can be used for hands-free listening and multimedia, because the long, thin speaker is mounted on the back of the phone will be muted.
Camera
Motorola has an already impressive Droid camera by allowing a 5-megapixel wide-screen mode that allows you to cram much more into the frame image improved. Outdoor photos are sharp and colorful, but is not it – colors tend toward the blue end of the spectrum tend. Shots taken indoors, with or without flash, the focus remains surprising in comparison to other high-megapixel Cams cell, but also tend to granular.
The Droid’s two most surprising shortcoming is its WVGA, instead of HD video recording. Videos are pixel-free, but details are unclear, especially when blown up full screen on a standard PC monitor size.

Battery Life
Even if the Droid 2 has the same size as the first battery Droid, Motorola must have done some low-power tap dancing, get almost 10 hours of talk time. Running in the real world use with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on and off, the Droid lasted almost two days two semi-regular phone call, web surfing, photography and share before we committed to recharge.
Verdict
Come the day after Labor Day, when the Droid X is again available, it must Droid drools between two $ 200 Droids: The Droid X with its 4.3-inch screen, 24 GB of memory and HD video recording, and , the Droid 2 decide, with its physical keyboard and long battery life. Unless you absolutely refuse, a touch-screen keyboard to use the Droid X, is by far the more advanced Droid.

Palm Pixi Review
Aug 26th
The Palm Centro Europe is the second handset from that Palm “Run” is much talk of the Web OS. The whole focus of the web OS is a tight integration with online social networks and Web 2.0 services, which seems to be just one important focus of most mobile phone manufacturers in 2009. With the rise of the iPhone was clear that as a decent user interface, which people use data services and will use their mobile phones in order to move information on access. Mobile data has always been a goal of further development of networks and the demand in 2009 has finally been realized to an extent that the question is asked now be able to cope with the networks? But this is a matter to be considered on another day.
The Palm Web OS running on the Linux kernel, complemented with additional services at this from Palm. The entire layout of the graphical user interface designed to be used on devices with touch screens and the display on the Palm Pixi is a capacitive 2.6-inch TFT screen, supporting up to 256,000 colors at a resolution of 320 x 400 pixels. The Pixi has a rounded design, with a traditional keyboard below the screen layout. The keyboard in question is a full QWERTY keyboard, designed to improve all types of data entry on the device. The Pixi fits comfortably in your hand, but seems just a little bit too big to be used comfortably with one hand. Size wise the Pixi measures 111 x 55 x 11mm and weighs just 100g. The display has an automatic rotation option, and there is a proximity sensor, the touch screen if the phone is turned off in telephone use.

So it is a bit of a disappointment to determine that the Pixi not ship with wireless included. To compensate for the Pixi not include the full mobile broadband connectivity, with HSDPA up to 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA for fast uploads of up to 5.76Mbps. The Pixi has tri-band HSDPA support, so you should be able to access high-speed data on all networks in which it is offered. Bluetooth is included offers for local connectivity, the latest version 2.1, the simple and convenient connection between other Bluetooth devices, and it is also A2DP for wireless stereo outputs.
The Pixi ships with a rather average 2.0-megapixel camera that offers an LED flash, plus has the device for recording video clips. There is no front facing camera which is not face to face video calls means. The internal memory on the device is set to 8GB, and there is no way to extend them because it included no memory card slot.
Palm has a long history in the mobile computing industry, and they have used their knowledge, offer a good collection of PIM applications on the Pixi, making it an easy way to connect and backup of important contact and calendar data. This may be saved to your PC, and in a position to back up your data online. The Palm Pixi offers support for threaded SMS, which is much easier to text conversations on the telephone, and including the prosecution makes a built-in e-mail client with support for multiple e-mail accounts.

But in truth, with the Palm Centro Europe than with the Palm Pre, it is all over the web OS, which offers a strong range of flexible options for integration with social networks that make it easy to contact, on Twitter, Facebook and keep all the other usual suspects. Palm OS developed by a number of common technologies such as HTML 5, CSS and Java, it makes programmers to create applications, making the need to learn yet another programming language. There is an App Store available, applications can be downloaded and as with other established businesses, there is a strong selection of both free and paid applications.
The Palm Pixi works well and thus provides on quite what it promises. It was not so long ago that a handset offers the features of the Pixi long would created a much bigger stir in the industry have, but now with such a large selection of devices available, providing seamless web integration, it is difficult to see , which can offer Pixi that make it out from the crowd.

Motorola DEVOUR A555 Review
Aug 25th
For social-networking addicts, there is no better mobile interface as Motoblur. Motorola’s Android overlay innovative aggregates all your social media accounts, and provides the latest news and information about updates, what looks like cartoon quote bubbles comfortably on the phone home screen spread. So far only on the Motorola Cliq from T-Mobile, Verizon Motoblur now comes to devour on the Motorola, a sleek-if-bulky new Android phone encased in luxurious aluminum. Motoblur, with a spacious four-line slide-out QWERTY keyboard makes customized, Devour probably the easiest way to stay in touch, without speaking, and offers an attractive package of comprehensive features and functions. But how does Devour match up with other Android Verizon phones that are similar and the Droid HTC Eris?
Features and Design
Like its cousins Android, Devour accesses Verizon 3G EV-DO network includes Wi-Fi connectivity, and is always welcome with the visual voicemail. The Droid is like the value thanks to its included pre-installed 16 GB SD card, compared to Devour (and Eris’) pre-installed 8 GB card. Tthe Devour is only equipped with a 3-megapixel imager that poor-bland, grainy and blurry photos lasts. The Devour includes Bluetooth 2.0 instead of the 2.1 specification on the Droid, and is a 3.1-inch LCD compared with superior 3.7-inch display Droid. The intertwining of the mass and weight are immediately noticeable, making it larger and heavier than the Droid. Its silver aluminum design with rubberized black highlights is Klingon-like and decidedly masculine.

Devour is superior to almost one faculty is dedicated to the top line of numbers on their four-line QWERTY keyboard. The keys are also slightly more elevated and more reactive than the Droid is to promote faster typing. But Motorola is Motorola and taketh away. Devour’s Lone shift and function (symbol) buttons are on the right instead of left, an arrangement will benefit only left-handed typers slowed down, typing for righty rest of us. The Devour’s @ button, a dedicated button on the Droid is a function key unfavorable brought to the W, instead of two, as on standard QWERTYs. The Eris, of course, lacks a physical QWERTY.
Instead of the usual slide-off back door to access the battery and SD card cover, a rubber-coated cover slips slightly to the side, rather like a digital camera. The Devour’s top-mounted power button and camera-shutter button is almost flush with the surface of the phone, so that both are too heavy too fast through the feeling. During his show is not as sharp or bright as the Droid (but then, to be fair, only a few mobile phone screens), or Eris, Devour LCD’s is still colorful, if a little dark. YouTube videos play in a high quality, and most filled the screen.
Sound Quality
Even without Motorola Clear Talk Technology eat, like most Motorola phones, offers superior sound quality. The rear speakers pumping a surprising amount of volume for music, video, audio and hands-free conversation.

The functionality of the phone
With a green phone icon is omnipresent on the bottom of the five home screen, the dialer Devour’s reach a little faster than the Droid is what only one other Android App icon. Of course, the biggest difference between swallowing and Droid Motoblur. Yes, you get all your messages and social networking updates and news updates without drilling even as far as Android’s pull-up menu. But Motoblur Update bubbles clutter your screen as papers for a desktop calendar blotter, to force you to pull up the menu “Applications” that can access almost all other frequently used functions.
Network
While above average biting, the charging time of 4-5 seconds swallow consistently behind both Droid and Eris delayed by one or two seconds. That’s fast enough, if not side-by-side comparison, but part of a pattern of comparative inferiority. And while Droid Eris and regularly invoked the more appropriate HTML versions of mobile sites such as The New York Times and Wikipedia, the less convenient access Devour full HTML versions.
Battery Life
Motorola Devour prices at 389 hours of talk time and 443 hours (18.45 days) standby, both more than either the or the Droid Eris, with almost twice as high as the standby time for the Droid. In practice, our test model, the battery mysteriously died after only one day is not charged. And even if the battery indicator showed almost 50 percent remain in power, joined our Devour less than an hour later.
Verdict
If you are constantly Facebooking, twittering, Instant Messaging and e-mailing, the pretty (and pretty difficult) Devour offers a superior social-networking experience. But, along with the fantasy of aluminum frame, you pay mostly for Motoblur and the dedicated QWERTY number line. Motoblur the value disappears when you consider how many non-Motoblur features and functionality you get with the Droid for only $ 50 more, and if you do not mind touch typing, the function is also half-superior Eris Devour a price . Both previous Android swallow Devour in the total.

LG Rumor Touch Review
Aug 24th
The first two LG Rumor messaging phones were both big hits with Sprint customers thanks to the rising texting people that are very usable QWERTY keyboard and compact development, but enjoyable. Now the third generation of the LG Rumor Touch adding to the market comes the inevitable touch-screen and EV-DO 3G. The new touch-screen is beautiful, but LG added that to just go along with the touchscreen craze since the QWERTY is very capable at operating everything on the phone. The EV-DO 3G but adds a whole new world compared to the previous generation rumors that activates not have access to the Sprint Music Store, Sprint TV and other services of 3G. And the performance of the Sprint navigation and messaging has improved thanks to the faster transmission speeds.
While LG was busy adding 3G to the rumor online about the new Touch Rumor, changed the mobile landscape and Sprint lineup a bit. The LG Rumor Touch currently sells for $ 80 with a two-year contract in the introduction, and this is a fair price for a mid-tier feature phone that does a lot. But while Sprint was a big push to win smartphone users, in order to reduce their prices by phone. The Palm Centro Europe, which are HTC Snap and the BlackBerry Curve 8530, all cheaper than the LG Rumor and the HTC Touch and the Samsung Hero Android smartphones are now only $ 10 more. We know that not everyone wants a smartphone, but the prices are tempting, curious shoppers. For those who are at the intersection, remember: Sprint, like all U.S. airlines need to get the data packages that cost more than the basic voice and messaging plans when you buy a smartphone . That is the flexibility of the LG Rumor offers Touch: You can get the basic voice plan and unlimited messages plan for $ 50/month.
Design and Ergonomics
LG and Sprint, the power of 3G and the attractive features and services complemented by 3G enabled, they forgot to update the LG Rumor Touch styling. We want the young LG Rumor LG Rumor and the more recent updated 2 designs, and the popularity of the two phones are somewhat guilty, the playfulness and robustness, said to his young audience. The LG Rumor Touch not stand as his predecessors in a sea of QWERTY sliders. But that’s not to say better not to touch the rumor on the form. It has a large 3″ touch screen, a full 5-line QWERTY keyboard, which in turn makes the device larger and a 2-megapixel camera (an improvement of the LG Rumor 2′s 1.3-megapixel camera). The LG Rumor feels well built. The larger display feels more luxury and websites and videos on the larger screen well in comparison to the last two Rumor phones. The display has both audio and tactile feedback when you touch it, but it washed looks outside. If you have pictures in the outdoors on a sunny day, the display is not very easy to use as the viewfinder to see. The QWERTY keyboard feels very spacious and is very easy to type. It has a good journey and provides audio feedback when pressed. backlight is effective in the dark.

Other buttons and slots are volume buttons, camera button start, screen lock/power button, charging jack and a microSD card slot for easy access.
Phone Features
The LG Rumor Touch gets good signal strength: full bars in well-covered areas and 50% in spotty coverage areas. It has not dropped a call on us. Voice quality is good but not exceptional. The LG phone has a nice UI that four shortcut keys includes touch for quick access to the phonebook, recent history, keyboard, and a cute group interface. The Rumor Touch supports up to 99 speed dial numbers can hold in a phone book with 600 contacts. The Touch UI gives you quick access to actions such as Call, Send SMS, history and contact details if you touch a contact in your phonebook.
The LG comes with a full compliment of messaging tools and services, including threaded SMS, personalized photo-and video-mail and mobile e-mail, including AOL, Gmail, Windows Live, Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail. The Rumor Touch also applications for Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Sprint Social Zone. The phone allows you to upload photos and videos on Photobucket YouTube.
Surfing the Web is faster on the LG Rumor Touch compared to previous generation Rumor phones. The Rumor Touch has the NetFront browser, the HTML pages in full screen can. The screen resolution is not very high at 240 by 400 pixels, and this means that you do not see much of a web page, but pages will be displayed in a readable font size. Sites with multiple columns in landscape mode can also look disproportioned. Apart from that, the browser does a good job keeping formats and images intact. want the phone does not have an accelerometer, but if you see web pages in landscape mode, slide open the keyboard.

GPS navigation and Sprint
The LG Rumor Touch has a built-in GPS navigation and Sprint has a better performance and speed to touch the rumor as a rumor two by the new EV-DO support. The Rumor Touch quickly acquire a GPS fix and charge cards with good speed. Turn-by-turn directions and maps also load quickly, and above all accurate. The voice is clear and on target. The phone has a speaker for voice directions. Sprint Navigation (powered by TeleNav) offers 2D and 3D maps, POIs (Points of Interest) search, local services and much more. There is a monthly subscription service, although you can pass costs $ 9.99/Month days to try it, or if you only occasionally. Alternatively, if you go with a Sprint everything plan is the navigation at no additional cost included.
Multimedia
If you have a preference for mobile entertainment, such as mobile TV and music, the rumor Touch offers strong performance in both services. Sprint has some improvements to the Sprint TV performance of the LG Rumor and Touch done shows it is beautiful. In strong EV-DO coverage areas Sprint TV plays fine on the rumor Touch Landscape in full screen mode, with occasional out-of-sync audio. In marginal coverage areas, the videos still play mostly smooth with few frame drops that to interrupt the playback. Sprint TV and radio have free channels, with your data plan as the plans it all, come and offer premium channels for additional costs.
The LG Rumor Touch is to find music lovers with access to the Sprint Music Store over the air purchase and download music. The Sprint Music Store still sells songs for $ 0.99/track or less (when you purchase multiple titles) and navigation through the music store is fast and music download is fast. Audio quality through the integrated 3.5 mm jack sounds good and very loud, even though the rumor does not touch come with all headsets. The built-in speaker is very loud back fire, but a little tinny. If you do, the volume of the blown speakers max, if you do not need the volume high enough to switch for most applications such as music playback.
Camera
The LG Rumor Touch has upgraded the camera 2 megapixels from the Rumor 2′s 1.3 megapixel camera. For snapshots and sharing with your friends online, the 2-megapixel camera on the rumor Touch do the trick quite well. The pictures look clear enough good color balance and saturation. But with competing devices like the LG Env 3, the Samsung and the upcoming Rogue Reality Samsung Verizon Wireless are all with 3-megapixel camera or higher, losing the rumor Touch the race. The photos show the typical level of noise you expect from a camera phone bottom. The Rumor Touch also does not like low light conditions for photos and video. Speaking of video, takes the LG smooth video with sound in sync. You can take videos for MMS or storing on the memory card. The maximum resolution for VGA video.

Battery Life
The LG Rumor has a touch beefy 1250 mAh battery (LGIP-401N), which can set the phone for over a week standby. The claimed talk time is 7 hours, and our tests showed that the talk time was closer to just over 6 hours. Playing Sprint TV and Sprint Navigation is drained the battery faster than music playback. The phone can take at least two hours at Sprint TV videos on 3G EV-DO.
Verdict
It is good to see LG and Sprint to add some 3G power to the rumor and the rumor Touch line offers competitive features such as a full QWERTY keyboard, a 3″ touchscreen, Sprint TV, GPS with Sprint Navigation and Sprint Music. The Rumor phone should please fans who are we to upgrade while maintaining their messaging needs, browsing and storage options unchanged. We wish that LG had some styling updates done for the rumored touch and give him a better camera.
