Solar-powered Vodafone 247 handset to appear in India in August
Vodafone had a global announcement about its new own-brand mobile phones in April. And then concentrated, almost all on the Android-powered 845th But hidden in this press release a small solar-powered gem called Vodafone 247.
Now Vodafone Essar has announced that the 247 will be available in India from next month for the very, very low price of Rs 1500 (that’s $ 32!).
The solar phone is very simple and is aimed at rural communities where access to electricity is not what it should be. In fact, it reported that one third of the Indians no electricity.
The Vodafone 247 requires eight hours of direct sunlight fully charged. Once charged, it can go on for eight days standby and 4 hours of talk time.
Other features include an FM radio and a strong flashlight.
This phone has the potential to be the best-selling Vodafone-branded handset at all. And easy.
It will be the first mobile phone for millions of people, and wireless communications, even if it never to allow a current.
Sure, you can more excited by the LG Sentio or Samsung Saga, but believe me when I say that the Vodafone 247 is amazing for many more people.
